- How can I keep track of all of my passwords?
- The most important thing is to have a system. That system can look different for each person, and we will work with you to find the best fit for you. You can use a notebook if you like pen and paper. We personally prefer a password manager like LastPass, 1Password, or even the built in mechanisms in your browser.
- Can I share my passwords across many accounts?
- You can do this, but it's not recommended. This is because it creates a vulnerability that bad actors can exploit. If they get one password, they get them all. With pen and paper you will be tempted to re-use passwords. A password manager gives you the benefit of security, and convenience.
- How does a password manager work?
- A password manager does three primary jobs. The first is to store your passwords. The second is to fill them in for you (this is the best part). The third is to generate passwords for you whenever you create a new account. Together, these three utilities keep you secure and make your life convenient!
